Miley Cyrus is on the run from the law in her new music video.

The pop superstar has teamed up with hitmaker Mark Ronson for a country-tinged sad banger which infuses soaring violins with an infectious beat – think Dolly Parton meets Avicii, and you’re on the right track.

“These silver bullet cigarettes, this burning house, there’s nothing left, it’s smoking, we both know it,” she sings on the bittersweet heartbreak track.

True to form, the accompanying music video is typically high-key affair, as we find Miley on a wild police car chase which sees her drive through a strip club, a shooting range, and ultimately crash on a highway.

There’s plenty of political imagery for viewers to unpack and analyse, from the #MeToo movement to Colin Kaepernick, but a finishing shot of the pop star being ‘crucified’ in front of her car is especially memorable.

Miley and Mark will appear on Saturday Night Live on 15 December to perform the new track.
