Are you ready to tumble outta bed and stumble into a Dolly Parton original musical?
Well how’s this for exciting as the first images from the new stage production of 9 to 5 have been released. Now playing at the Savoy Theatre, there’s a host of famous faces stepping into the beloved roles of Violet, Judy and Doralee.
Caroline Sheen takes on feisty office leader Violet Newstead – a role that will later be played by pop star Louise Redknapp who is pausing on the show due to an injury. Love Island winner Amber Davies plays recently divorced housewife Judy Bernly alongside West End leading lady Natalie McQueen as Dolly’s signature role of Doralee Rhodes.
Elsewhere, Brian Conley plays sexist office boss Franklin Hart and Bonnie Langford takes up the reins as his assistant, Roz Keith.
9 to 5 The Musical tells the story of three workmates pushed to boiling point by their sexist and egotistical boss. Concocting a plan to kidnap and turn the tables on their despicable supervisor, will the girls manage to reform their office – or will events unravel when the CEO pays an unexpected visit?
The show features music and lyrics by Dolly Parton, a book by Patricia Resnick, and is directed by Jeff Calhoun. The West End production is based on the 20th Century Fox Picture movie. The show received its stage debut in 2009 on Broadway, starring Allison Janney.
