A huge congratulations are in order for Hayley Kiyoko, who walked away with her very first Moon Man at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards in New York City last night.

The popstar – who is referred to as Lesbian Jesus by her devoted fans – received the Push Artist of the Year prize, winning over tough competitors like SZA, Khalid and Lil Xan, amongst others.

“This validates any queer woman of colour that you can follow your dreams,” Kiyoko said on the pink carpet after finding out about her win. “VMGAYS!”

It comes months after Hayley Kiyoko released her brilliant new album Expectations, which has spawned the bops Curious, Feelings, and What I Need featuring Kehlani.

The 27-year-old was also the star who coined the phrase #20GayTeen at the start of the year, prophesying a strong year for queer talent.

Elsewhere, Camila Cabello walked away with both Artist of the Year and the prestigious Video of the Year for Havana.

Jennifer Lopez was honoured with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award after performing a medley of her greatest hits.

Ariana Grande won Best Pop Video for No Tears Left To Cry, while Nicki Minaj won Best Hip Hop Video for Chun-Li.

Ariana and Nicki both performed at the show at Radio City Hall in NYC, as well as Shawn Mendes, Post Malone, and Travis Scott.
