Drag Race star Mistress Isabelle Brooks has shut down fatphobic “fans” with a powerful statement on social media.

On 13 December, season 14 champion Willow Pill ushered in the new season as she revealed the 16 – we repeat, 16 – contestants vying for the title of America’s Next Drag Superstar and a cash prize of $200,000.

As part of the season 15 announcement, the cast sat down for the iconic Meet The Queens interview to give fans further insight into their personality, drag-style and comedic talent.

While most of the viewers praised the new batch of queens, some “fans” chose to make fatphobic comments toward Mistress for her playful body postive statement.

“A lot of people think I’m a big girl and I’m fat, but I’m really just big-boned. But my heart goes out to the plus-size girls,” she said in the hilarious teaser.

In response to the array of hateful comments, Mistress took to Twitter to slam the haters with a feirce statement.

“I’ll never understand why people (especially queer ppl) are so OFFENDED by fat people being confident/happy. Just because you’re insecure and feel the need to tear yourself down doesn’t mean I do,” she wrote.

“I’m only fat because I’m a gluttonous bitch who likes to chow down. One of the most uncomfortable things for me is giving people access into my life as a boy.

“Not because I’m insecure/ feel some type of way, but bc I have worked hard to get to a place where I’m HAPPY. I love myself, and one day I hope you… can learn to love yourself too.”

In response to Mistress’ tweet, fans flocked to her mentions to praise the drag talent for her impactful words.

One person tweeted: “As someone who’s bigger and has been bullied for it and treated differently, THANK YOU. It’s so hard to just exist sometimes.”

Another fan wrote: “Oh she’s out here GATHERING the children. Quickly becoming a stan of Mistress.”

We love to see Mistress shutting down the haters.
