The UK and Ireland release date for the highly anticipated lesbian comedy Bottoms has finally been announced – and it’s happening sooner than you think!

The movie follows two queer high school outcasts, PJ (Rache Sennott) and Josie (Ayo Edebiri), who create a fight club to “impress and hook up with cheerleaders”.

“Their bizarre plan works. The fight club gains traction and soon the most popular girls in school are beating each other up in the name of self-defense,” reads the official synopsis.

“But PJ and Josie find themselves in over their heads and in need of a way out before their plan is exposed.”

How To Watch Bottoms in the UK

If you, like us, are gagging to see the film after the soft-launch in the US, the confirmation is in and the wait is nearly over.

A teaser posted on the official Bottoms Twitter account said “ok UK & Ireland besties, ur next. #BottomsMovie hits cinemas 3 November. it’s happening [purple devil emoji].”

In the comments, fans were quick to call out other locations. One fan wrote “what about your latam besties,” to which Bottoms responded “we love you! More info coming soon, promise.”

Another user added: “what about [the] EU?” Again, the question was met with “more info coming soon, we promise.”

Directed by Emma Seligman, who also shared writing duties with lead Sennott, Bottoms also stars Havana Rose Liu (No Exit) as Isabel, Kaia Gerber (American Horror Stories) as Brittany and Nicholas Galitzine (Red, White & Royal Blue) as Jeff.

Additional cast members include Dagmara Domińcyzk (Succession), Marshawn Lynch (Westworld), Ruby Cruz (Mare of Easttown), Miles Fowler (The Resident) and Punkie Johnson (Saturday Night Live).

Earlier this year, Bottoms premiered at the 2023 SXSW film festival, where it received widespread critical acclaim for Sennott and Edebiri’s leading performances, its satirical elements and the queer representation.

More recently, Bottoms fever landed in the US with a 10 week limited release in the summer and grossed $515,245 (£409,340), the Radio Times reported.

Bottoms will arrive in cinemas on Friday 3 November 2023, with an official streaming release date yet to be announced.
