He will star alongside Camila Cabello in the highly-anticipated reimagining.

Sony’s upcoming live-action remake of Cinderella just got 10 times more sickening with the announcement of its newest cast member, Billy Porter. The star will portray the legendary role of the Fairy Godmother.

The American actor and singer joins Camila Cabello in the adaptation, which is said to be a modern reimagining of the iconic fairytale. Kay Cannon, who helmed the Pitch Perfect series, has signed on as lead writer.

Cannon received three Emmy nominations for his work on American comedy series 30 Rock.

The project stemmed from an idea from late-night talk show host James Corden, who is set to produce alongside his Fulwell 73 partner Leo Pearlman. The film has no release date, but it’s reportedly being fast-tracked for production.

Porter is best known for his role as Pray Tell on Ryan Murphy’s critically-acclaimed LGBTQ drama Pose, which features the largest amount of trans actors in regular roles of any scripted TV series in history.

At last month’s 71st Primetime Emmy Awards, he made history for the show once again by becoming the first openly gay black man to win the trophy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

The star has also received praise for his role as Lola in the Broadway musical Kinky Boots, for which he won Best Actor in a Musical at the 67th Tony Awards and the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album.
