Bob the Drag Queen serves it up in first trailer for Cherry Pop – watch

Watch the first trailer for Cherry Pop with Bob the Drag Queen, Detox and other RuPaul alums.

Bob The Drag Queen’s new movie, Cherry Pop, will receive its official premiere in New York City on 19 June as part of NYC Pride 2017.

Directed by Assaad Yacoub, the film follows a night in the life of a failing drag bar and its larger-than-life performers. Expect quick wit, backstage backstabbing and plenty of fabulous drag.

Detox, Latrice Royale and Tempest Dujour will also star alongside Bob The Drag Queen in the feature-length film, which will be released via VOD later this fall.

Cherry Pop will first be shown as part of OutCinema presented by NewFest and NYC Pride 2017 at the SVA Theatre, which will serve as a celebration of the LGBT+ community on film – and it’s one of the many events the Gay Times Pride Team is covering as part of NYC Pride 2017.

“As the leader in LGBT film distribution, we are thrilled to bring Assaad Yacoub’s wonderful and wacky world to audiences around the country this summer,” said Jim Stephens, President of Wolfe Video and Wolfe Releasing.

“Cherry Pop radiates an irresistible queer vibrancy that makes NYC Pride the perfect venue to host our New York premiere. We are excited to also bring the film to San Francisco and then to fans around the country on VOD this Fall.”

Cherry Pop will also be screened at an event in San Francisco on 11 July, with a Los Angeles screening to be announced soon.

Bob The Drag Queen won the eighth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race last year, and is expected to return to the show for a special appearance at the grand final of the current season later this summer.
