So this is how Spider-Man Homecoming will tie in with the Avengers…

It’s all starting to click into place.

With less than two months until we see Tom Holland make his first proper outing as Spider-Man in the hero’s very own movie, we’ve finally got a bit of context around where it fits into the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Having already seen the high school Spider-Man in last year’s Captain America: Civil War, Peter Parker’s mission in Homecoming is to stop the bad guys from using weapons they’ve created from scraps salvaged during all of the Avengers’ various Earth-threatening attacks.

His main foe will be the Vulture, who is played by Michael Keaton in the forthcoming blockbuster.

We already know that Spider-Man will be a part of next year’s Avengers outing Infinity War, so it looks like this film will lead the hero – as well as Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man – nicely into the oncoming saga.

Spider-Man: Homecoming will be in cinemas on 7 July.
