Joe McElderry to star in Joseph UK tour

Former X-Factor winner Joe McElderry is to take up the lead role in the UK tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

The news marks Joe’s first major role in a long running musical. Since winning the X Factor back in 2009, Joe has released two Top 10 albums with a fifth in the making.

He’s also featured on West End royalty’s Kerry Ellis’ self titled album.

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical is set to take to stage across the UK in 2016, though dates are still to be confirmed.

Joe has recently come under fire from the Mail Online following body shaming comments made about him. The star, who was referred to as having a “fuller frame,” hit back at jibes by posing topless in an Instagram post with the awesome caption: “Just took my full figured little ass to the gym”.
