“Y’all really need to let Branjie go. It’s over. We have moved on.”

Brooke Lynn Hytes wants Drag Race fans to “let go” of her romance with fellow contestant Vanessa Vanjie Mateo.

Both queens made headlines earlier this year when they shared a kiss during the third episode of season 11; it made herstory as the first ever on-screen Drag Race romance (Alaska and Sharon Needles don’t count because it was off the show).

The Canadian queen eventually eliminated Vanjie in a killer lip-sync to advance to the final four. During the reunion episode, Brooke then revealed that the pair have since broke things off because of their hectic schedules, but remain good friends.

It appears as if fans can’t seem to accept that, however, because on 12 August, Brooke felt the need to tweet the following: “Y’all really need to let Branjie go. It’s over. We have moved on. I love Jose so much.

“He is kind, loyal, funny (and crazy) and I love spending time with him and am so happy he is my FRIEND. We will always have love for each other and have each others backs… that being said I can’t wait for the Branjie show on Wednesday.”

When we spoke to Brooke back in July, she said the pair had “genuine feelings for each other” and called their romance a “safety blanket” that helped her through an “intense and stressful environment”.

“We are on good terms,” she told us. “We ended things in, I think October, so it’s been a while and yeah we’re friends. We talk. We don’t talk everyday, but we talk probably once a week or once every two weeks. There’s still a lot of love there.”
