Members of the Fab 5 from Queer Eye met with US lawmakers in support of the Equality Act.

Queer Eye’s Bobby Berk, Tan France, Jonathan van Ness and Antoni Porowski have travelled to Capitol Hill to meet politicians like Nancy Pelosi and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who are supporting the introduction of the Equality Act.

Both groups shared photographs of themselves with each other online, with Pelosi joking: “feel free to let us know when you want @RepAOC & me to fill in next. #Fab5″

And on his Twitter, Jonathan posted: “We have the most diverse American congress ever, I’m lifted up in seeing that a United States that values Equality & protection for all is currently fighting for that. We’re making it rain pantsuits & equality in 2020.”

The gang also met other polticians on their trip including House Majority Leader, Steny Hoyer, and California politician Judy Chu. Posting on Twitter, Chu wrote: “The @QueerEye Fab Five have taught us to love ourselves.

“And today in DC, we talked about needing to love others as well, through legislation like the Equality Act to promote LGBT rights, VAWA to protect women, and ending the war in Yemen to protect lives.”

However, culture expert Karamo Brown did not join the rest of the gang on the trip. Writing on Twitter, he posted: “The thing I love about the #Fab5 the most is that we all don’t hold the same view but we respect each other and the process.

“For me, its important to champion leaders who understand the importance of speaking the truth and who also understand that our democracy is a bipartisan system & in order to see sustainable change U must find a way to work w/ the other side while not disrespecting your own party.”

The group visited Washington DC in support of the Equality Act, which Nancy Pelosi vowed to pass in her first speech upon re-election as Speaker of the House of Representatives.

The bill, which even has the support of most religious groups in America, aims to ban discrimination against the LGBTQ community in areas such as employment and housing.

However, the group couldn’t get away with going down without a little bit of Queer Eye magic. Before heading down, interior design guru Bobby Berk tweeted Alexandria asking: “Hey @AOC! I’m in DC all week girl! Put me to work! ‘Have time… will work for democracy!'”

And she responded positively, writing back: “Swing by our office! We’ve barely had time to hang anything up, three of my staffers are expecting babies, and we’ve got a bach pad/warehouse type situation out here. SOS!

“(The good news is that people are leaving a rainbow of positive post-its on our wall so that’s cute).”

Hopefully the offer was taken up when they were down, and we can see the results soon.
