Charli XCX and Troye Sivan are joining forces to save pop music.

The two pop singer-songwriters have. announced this week that they’ll be dropping a new single called 1999 on Friday, and the cover art is serving us some major throwback vibes as Troye and Charli rock black Matrix-style outfits.

“1999 OUT THIS FRIDAY BY UR FAV POP LEGENDS TROYE SIVAN AND MEEEEE,” Charli wrote on Twitter.

Needless to say, fans have been reacting in a typically over-excited manner, although we can’t blame them.

We don’t know about you, but we’re expecting our wigs to be SNATCHED.

The song follows previous singles 5 In The Morning, Focus, No Angel and Girls Night Out, which are all expected to feature on Charli’s upcoming third studio album.

Troye, meanwhile, has been receiving critical acclaim for his sophomore record Bloom, released earlier this year. We called the album proof that he’s a “compelling and perceptive young gay voice” in our review, which you can read here.
