Showtime’s president has given an update on the highly-anticipated reboot for The L Word.
During a TCA panel this week, Gary Levine was questioned on the series, which has been in development now for over a year.
“There are a lot of revivals out there,” he told reporters. “We are working hard not to repeat ourselves. If we end up with a show that has something new to say, we will be excited to proceed.”
Unfortunately, that’s all he had to say. It looks like we definitely won’t be getting the series this year, so we’re looking at you 2019…
Last November, it was revealed that Marja-Lewis Ryan – writer and director of the Netflix original 6 Balloons – will serve as showrunner and executive producer on the show, which is being hailed as a “sequel” to the fan-favourite series.
Stars such as Jennifer Beals, Leisha Hailey, and Katherine Moennig will reprise their iconic roles, and will also executive produce.
The original series – which ran from 2004 until 2009 – also starred Mia Kirshner, Laurel Holloman, Leisha Hailey, Katherine Moennig, Pam Grier, Sarah Shahi, Rachel Shelley and Daniela Sea.
It is currently unknown whether they will rejoin the cast.
We don’t know about you, but we’re so fucking excited for its return because of that finale. The last ever episode of the series saw the demise of the duplicitous lead character Jenny Schecter (Kirshner), and an investigation into her death.
Every single of her friends had motive to kill her, so the series was left open ended. Will we finally find out who murdered Jenny?
