From one legendary act to another…
The timeless music of Cher and ABBA will forever be a part of gay culture, so the news that the legendary diva would be appearing in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, the musical sequel based on ABBA’s songs, sent us all wild.
A recent trailer for the film teased that Cher would not only be playing Meryl Streep’s mother Ruby Sheridan, she’d also be covering a classic song by the Swedish pop group – none other than best-selling single Fernando.
Ahead of the film’s highly-anticipated release on 20 July, the song has been released in full, and it’s as fabulous as you’d expect.

A steady stream of trailers and teasers for the movie have been released this year, and while the hype is brewing, fans have noticed a worrying lack of one of the key elements of the original movie’s success – Meryl Streep.
The Academy Award winner doesn’t have any new scenes in the trailers – even though she was confirmed to return – and her character only appears via flashback, with Lily James playing a young Donna (Streep’s character).
Is Donna dead, or are they throwing us off? Probably the latter, but fans are in uproar…
Alongside Meryl, Julie Walters, Christine Baranski, Amanda Seyfried and Dominic Cooper all reprise their roles from the first film, with Cher joining the cast as Donna’s mother.
Pierce Brosnan, Stellan Skarsgård and Colin Firth will return to play Sophie’s three possible dads: Sam, Bill and Harry.
Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is produced by Judy Craymer and Gary Goetzman, who produced the original film. Craymer also created and produced the stage musical of which the film is based on.
It will be released officially on 20 July, 2018 – ten years and two days after Mamma Mia! opened.
