Watch baseball crowd cheer as gay couple get engaged at the game

Ty Fleming and Tyler Garrison had much to celebrate last week when they got engaged in front of thousands of people at a baseball game.

The Washington Nationals were playing the Pittsburgh Pirates at the Nationals Park, when Tyler got down on one knee to propose to Ty during an interval.

The crowd erupted into cheers for the happy couple, as they were embraced by the massive Washington Nationals eagle mascot, Screech, following their engagement.

Ty then had to hold back tears as the celebratory moment became overwhelming.

The whole thing was caught on camera and projected on the big screens in the stadium, and The Washington Blade posted a video online which is quickly racking up thousands of views.

At a time when LGBT+ rights in the US are uncertain under the current administration, it’s a lovely reminder that love is love.

Loads of comments of congratulations have been pouring in on Facebook too.

“May God bless the two of you abundantly,” one commenter said, while another added: “Good for them! I wish them happiness and success for the rest of their lives!”
