Manchester Pride have announced details of their huge Gay Village Party.
The four-day event, which will take place in Manchester’s Gay Village from Friday 23 to Monday 26 August, will this year bring live performances, a food and makers market, family-focused activities and more for Pride-goers to enjoy.
Below, we’ve rounded up what you can expect from the celebrations.
Thomas Cook Airlines Stage
Sackville Gardens, located just off Canal Street, will be the focal point of the event, playing host to the Thomas Cook Airlines Stage and family space, with an exciting lineup of music and performances scheduled throughout the weekend.
Liberty X will open the event alongside Sara Aalto and host Stephen Bailey, while Proms In The Park will take over on Saturday daytime followed by a Danny Beard And Friends extravaganza on the evening.
The Queer Music Stage, programmed by Manchester’s year-round calendar of cultural events Superbia, will run on Sunday from 2pm to 11pm, before Trans Pride takes over the Sackville Gardens Stage on Monday.
As always, the weekend will close with the Candlelit Vigil in this space on Monday evening.
Sackville Square Fair
Sackville Square Fair will this year take place in the car park on Sackville Street, which has previously played host to the main stage.
Expect a host of food and drink traders offering a true street party flavour. Plus, the ever popular makers market will be back to offer cool gifts and memorabilia, with DJs and live music playing all weekend.
Even better, the much-missed fairground rides will return to the site.
The EXPO
Once again, The EXPO will continue in the space on Bloom Street where it has been for many years.
Situated in the Village, the hugely popular community space gives exhibitors the chance to showcase their organisation while spending face-to-face time with visitors and promote their goods or services.
The hugely popular silent disco will return on Saturday and Sunday, while Pride-goers are welcomed to a Singalong Cinema on Monday – films will be selected by a poll via Manchester Pride’s official Facebook page.
In the evenings, the space will be transformed into The Fetish Emporium, a night market with stalls, demonstrations and performances.
“The Gay Village Party will be a true celebration of LGBT+ life right at the heart of the festival in our city’s iconic Gay Village,” said Mark Fletcher, chief executive for Manchester Pride.
“The programme of live events is so varied that, along with the events happening across the city, it makes up our most inclusive and diverse festival yet.
“By working with Superbia, Trans Pride and the brilliant venues across the area we will be throwing a four-day party to remember.”
How to get tickets
Manchester Pride Festival 2019 takes place from Friday 23 to Monday 26 August.
It will consist of Manchester Pride Live, the Candlelit Vigil, the Superbia Weekend, the Gay Village Party, Manchester Pride Parade and Youth Pride MCR.
Day tickets for the Gay Village Party are £10 plus booking fees, weekend tickets are £15 plus booking fees, and family tickets for either Saturday or Sunday are £20.
