The Diana Award pairs with Everybody’s Talking About Jamie for Anti-Bullying Week

The Diana Award

The charity has joined forces with the coming-of-age West End musical to raise awareness of Anti-Bullying Week.

Created to ensure every young person feels accepted and finds “a place where they belong” in their school community, The Diana Award was set up in memory of The Duke of Cambridge and The Duke of Sussex’s mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, and her belief that young people have the power to change the world.

The charity fosters, develops and inspires positive change in the lives of young people through three key programmes including their leading Anti-Bullying Programme which  works to change the attitude and culture surrounding bullying both across the UK and around the world.

Bucket collections at the musical will run at the Apollo Theatre where the show plays all week. All proceeds go towards The Diana Award Anti-Bullying Programme, which ensures young people like Jamie and his peers have the skills and confidence to stand up to bullying.

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, is based on the true story of Jamie Campbell, a 16 year old school boy who wanted to attend his high school prom in a dress. The story was made in to a BBC3 documentary in 2011. It is a tale of unconditional love between a mother and a son, and their fight to overcome prejudice, beat the bullies and be accepted for himself.

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie recently celebrated its first birthday in London, and currently features RuPaul’s Drag Race judge Michelle Visage.
