Sandi Toksvig, Dawn Butler MP, and Nicola Adams were amongst the big winners at DIVA’s annual awards extravaganza.

Actress Rachel Shelley hosted the ceremony, which honours and pays tribute to those who help make a difference to the LGBTQ community.

Toksvig – who presents The Great British Bake Off on BBC – scooped the award for Broadcaster of the Year for her commitment to lesbian, trans and bisexual issues.

Butler took home the gong for Ally of the Year, while British boxer Adams won Sports Personality of the Year.

Inspirational Role Model of the Year was awarded to actress and campaigner Sophie Ward, while Holby City won LGBT Series/Storyline of the Year for its plot between Serena and Bernie.

Founder of Barclays DIVA Awards, Linda Riley, said: “The DIVA Awards is a fantastic event that honours those who are committed to raising awareness for the lesbian, trans and bisexual communities.

“We’re proud of everyone who won big tonight and all of the shortlisters involved – each and every one of them make a difference to the LGBTQ+ community.”
