Shut up, throw on some speedos and get me a cocktail!
If it’s been a while since your last vacation you probably fall into one of two categories – you’ve been sporting the same worn out speedos/shorts/sandals since the last time you went on holiday in 1987, or you’ve been bulking/shredding/doing something else in the gym which means you’re now finally ready to show off the goods on a cruise ship with 6000 other gays (count us out of that one).
Both mean just one thing, a new beachwear look is in desperate need, so we’ve chosen the best swimwear, sandals and accessories so you look chic af on your next getaway.
When looking for swim attire, try and think what you want to get from it – if you’re a sun whore whose only holiday aspiration is to get a achieve the perfect tiny tan line, then a suitably small swim brief is preferable. The white solid sunning briefs from Dan Ward are perfect against a golden tan and the monochromatic colour way makes them perfect for a quick trip to Mykonos. If you’re looking for something that’s a bit more beach-to-bar (not that we’re opposed to a speedo in a bar) then a short is probably your best choice, look for interesting prints and tailored details to make them feel less like swimwear.
Just like your swimwear it’s important to think about function with your footwear. If you’re always in the water, a pair of crocodile Bottega Veneta sandals aren’t going to hold up their end of the bargain, they will however look fabulous with a pair of cuffed chinos. We’re feeling the strappier styles this season but if they’re too much for you revert back to a simple pair of slides.
If there’s one way you can elevate your look, its through chic accessories. A classic Panama hat will add some uptown style to a monochrome outfit and a simple tote is perfect for throwing in your beach essentials.
