Breaking Bad actor calls LGBT+ people “fucking weird” despite dad being gay

Comedian and actor Lavell Crawford has labelled the LGBT+ community “fucking weird”.

In a bizarre interview with VLAD TV, the former Breaking Bad star was asked why he doesn’t make jokes at the expense of gay people, which led him on a rather confusing and offensive rant.

Although he began by joking about a “gay mafia” who try to ruin the careers of comedians who make jokes about them, he later gave a more respectable reason for not targeting gay people.

“I got gay friends and everything, and I touch on gay stuff,” he explained, “but I touch on it in the way you’re supposed to touch on it. I don’t look at it as like ‘the gay people’, I look at it as people having feelings.”

The interview took a sharp turn for the worse when he went on to discuss equality, however, as he confused trans rights and gay rights by attacking the issue of bathroom accessibility for trans people.

He said: “No matter how much they’re getting accepted, it’s still fucking weird. Now they’re trying to get their own bathrooms and shit, and I’m just like, it’s still not the norm.

“I’m [from a] religious background, and in church you just don’t feel it, y’know? But I don’t have nothing against gay people because, strange enough, my father’s gay – he’s a gay man.”

Despite having a gay man in his family, it seems Lavell still isn’t very clued up on sexuality, as he recalled how he worried that being gay was “hereditary” or if it meant he was going to have a “gay switch”.

Lavell also criticised kids shows and movies that include gay characters, such as the recent Disney remake of Beauty and the Beast, claiming that they shouldn’t be a “venue for homosexuality”.

He said: “They’re trying to put in your kids mind ‘Oh I’m born gay!’ and the jury’s still fucking out on that. If you’re gay, god bless you, but don’t try to compare gay to black folks.”

After going on a rant about young boys being given ‘girls’ toys and being encouraged to be “wimps”, he argued that people should “teach our kids to be men and women” before allowing them to identify as gay.

He continued: “If you decide you wanna be gay at 25, that’s fine, but try pussy out for the first few years, try pussy out, [and] young ladies try dick out, you’re gonna find a good dick out there – try one.”
