The boys of Take That’s The Band musical bare all in exclusive Gay Times shoot

The boys of The Band have let it all shine in an exclusive shoot for Gay Times.

Ahead of the musical opening in Manchester this month, the Five To Five lads stripped off to recreate Take That’s iconic (and revealing) Do What U Like musical video. You know the one… jelly, cake and a naked Take That.

“There’s so much nakedness,” laughs band member AJ when explaining on set why Do What U Like just so happened to be his favourite Take That video. “Throwing jelly, cakes and having fun.”

Fellow band member – and openly gay artist – Curtis revealing they were all somewhat ‘nervous’ to bare all for our camera lens, but knew it’d be fun: “We’re getting our bodies out, but it’s exciting as it’s fun and eccentric, which I’m all for!”

Five to Five, made up of members AJ Bentley, Nick Carsberg, Yazdan Qafouri, Curtis T Johns and Sario Soloman, won BBC’s Let It Shine earlier this year – but their time on national television hasn’t made them shy.

Well, anything but as this exclusive Gay Times photo reveals…

Earlier this month, Gay Times exclusively revealed that Take That and Tim Firth’s upcoming new stage musical will feature a leading gay character.

The principal gay female character will openly discuss their sexuality in the musical – a hopeful polite nod to the large LGBT+ following of the original band.

But what’s the show about, we hear you cry? For five 16 year-old friends in 1992, The Band is everything. 25 years on, the musical reunites a group of friends, now 40-something women, as they try once more to fulfil their dream of meeting their heroes.

Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen joined in the colourful celebrations at Manchester Pride this past weekend – introducing a live stage performance from the entire cast.
