Sara Bareilles to make Broadway debut in her musical Waitress

Waitress

Singer and songwriter Sara Bareilles has confirmed she’s to star in Broadway musical Waitress.

Her limited run in the starring role of Jenna begins 31 March for 10 weeks. Joining the cast will mark Sara’s Broadway debut.

On joining the show, Sara said: “Sugar, Butter, Broadway!! It is with unabashed delight that I announce that my childhood dream is coming true and I’m gonna be on Broadway!!!! I am joining the cast of WAITRESS!! (No pigtails this time.)

“In a few short weeks I will be stepping into the role of Jenna Hunterson, and I’m just beside myself! This show, the people who made it, and these characters have become more precious to me than I could ever say. It will be an incredible privilege to join the cast onstage and tell this beautiful story.”

Tony nominee Jessie Mueller, who originated the role of Jenna, will take her final bow at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on 26 March.

Jessie Mueller has been an absolute dream come true in this role and I'm deeply honored to get to take a turn at embodying our beloved Jenna (and hopefully remember my lines along the way). My first show is MARCH 31. Panic attacks available now. ????
