Shiny new handheld, I choose you!

Nintendo have confirmed plans to release a new Pokéball-inspired 2DS XL later this year to coincide with the release of Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon.

The iconic Pokéball design will adorn a clamshell version of the 2DS handheld, which has an XL screen 82% larger than the original.

That means your Pokémon battles will look even more glorious when it is released on 3 November.

It’ll be available weeks before the new Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon Pokémon games go on sale on 17 November.

The two new titles are sequels to last year’s Sun and Moon versions, which launched the seventh generation of Pokémon.

The Ultra versions of the games will feature a new storyline, even more ferocious forms of the legendaries Solgaleo and Lunala, as well as new Ultra Beasts.
