Greg Williams

In a Gay Times exclusive, take a first listen to the cast of Dreamgirls performing hit song One Night Only.

Taken from their upcoming cast recording – which will be released next Friday the song features Amber Riley as Effie White, Liisi LaFontaine as Deena Jones and Ibinabo Jack as Lorrell Robinson – making up the soulful singing trio The Dreams.

The song, which appears in the second act of the hit West End musical, finds Effie performing her number One Night Only before soon having it turned into a disco track by her former group members. It’s the third release we’ve heard from the new cast album. Other tracks released so far include Listen and the unstoppable hit And I Am Telling You (I’m Not Going).

Ready?! Turn up the speakers and get ready to belt it out, boys…

April, Amber Riley took home the highest award for a leading female actress in a musical at the Olivier Awards. Starring in a show that champions the power of being true to yourself, Amber spoke exclusively to Gay Times about why she thinks Dreamgirls connects so much with the LGBT+ community.

She told Gay Times: “Any person that feels outcast or any person that feels like the underdog in any situation can identify with Effie because she is (as well).”

She adds: “I think anybody that feels that way, especially the LGBTQ community, I feel like they identify with that.”
