BBC announces new series Queer Britain with YouTuber Riyadh Khalaf

BBC Three will launch the new show next month.

The channel’s new series, Queer Britain, will be fronted by YouTube star Riyadh Khalaf and takes a look at queer culture in the UK, as well as the challenges the LGBT+ community still face.

“I’m incredibly excited for Queer Britain to be released,” said Riyadh. “This was a real passion project which has moved, inspired and educated me in more ways than I ever could have imagined.

“The series pulls no punches and goes straight to the heart of the issues facing LGBTQ+ people in the UK today. At times it’ll make you feel uncomfortable, shocked and maybe even upset, but overall I think you will see the beauty and diversity of this community in its full glory.

“This is a raw representation of modern Queer life – the highs, the lows and the high heels!”

Queer Britain will consist of six episodes which will be available on BBC Three’s iPlayer and YouTube channels weekly, starting on Sunday 7 May.

Issues that will be explored will be LGBT+ youth homelessness, people who are shunned by the LGBT+ community, as well as going behind the scenes of London’s popular queer club night Sink The Pink.
