Adele helped a same-sex couple get engaged on stage during a concert in Australia.
Continuing her mission to play fairy godmother to gay men around the world – seriously, when’s our turn? – Adele made a lucky couple’s dream come true when she picked them out of the crowd at her final Melbourne show.
Wade Nicholson-Doyle, who took his boyfriend Chris to the show as a 40th birthday present, joined the singer on stage before he dropped down to one knee and surprised his partner with a proposal – and he said yes!
Adele exclaimed: “I actually had no idea that was going to happen! Congratulations!”
The concert at Etihad stadium attracted around 77,000 people, the largest crowd since the venue opened.
Wade told BBC News: “It just kind of blacked out and all I could see was Chris and Adele standing there. To share the stage with her, if only for five minutes, is really incredible. We’re very much in her debt.”
It’s not the first time Adele has shown support for the LGBT+ community during her shows – back in May she helped an adorable couple get engaged on stage, and later agreed to attend the wedding of another lucky couple.
Following the June mass shooting at Orlando’s LGBT nightclub Pulse last year, which left 49 people dead, the star draped herself in a rainbow flag on stage and dedicated Make You Feel My Love to the victims.
