The country queen is coming back with her first new full-length collection in over 15 years.

Shania Twain has confirmed plans to release a new single in March, while her long-awaited fifth studio album is expected to follow in May.

The singer-songwriter revealed that she’s had a lot to write about during that time, including her divorce and dysphonia, a vocal-cord disorder that caused her trouble speaking, let alone singing.

“I’m a different singer now,” Shania told Rolling Stone. “There was a lot of coming to terms with that. It’s been one of the obstacles in my life I’ve just had to learn to live with.

“I’ve learned a lot about myself,” she added. “It’s scary to learn how vulnerable you can be.”

On new song Who’s Gonna Be Your Girl? Shania reflects on the breakdown of her marriage.

“It’s about feeling unappreciated and knowing that you are secondary,” she explained.

“Having to live with someone that has different priorities and accepting that you’re not the most important thing in a person’s life.”

Further new songs are titled Swinging With My Eyes Closed and We Got Something They Don’t.

Shania also revealed that the new album doesn’t have a title yet, and that she’s very aware that she’s returning to a very different music landscape.

“It’s been so long. It almost feels like another lifetime,” Shania said, before touching upon music streaming. “I’ve already adapted as a listener. The fun thing is more people actually hear your music.”

We just can’t wait to hear the new music.
