Exclusive: Lady Bunny to play the Soho Theatre in 2017

Lady Bunny

Foul-mouthed glamourpuss and drag legend Lady Bunny is to make her show debut at the Soho Theatre in 2017.

Trans-Jester! is Lady Bunny’s first solo theatre run in the UK, as she crosses the Atlantic having played to packed houses at the Stonewall Inn for six months.

With her glitzy outfits, sky-high wigs and false eyelashes long enough to embarrass Tammy Faye Baker, multi-talented drag artist Lady Bunny would turn heads even if looking glamorous was her only talent.

Founder of the annual Wigstock Festival which not only featured almost every queen who ever worked in NYC, but it also attracted mainstream recording acts who just wanted to join in the fun–including Dee-Lite, Debbie Harry, Boy George, RuPaul, CeCe Peniston, Ultra Nate, and Barbara Tucker.

RuPaul’s Drag Race fans know her from her appearance as The Dean of Drag from RuPaul’s Drag U and as Bianca Del Rio’s occasional side-kick.

But what’s Trans-Jester! about we hear you ask?

Well, Bunny usually shies away from politics – because one train wreck right now is enough. But she doesn’t shy away from gender politics. From the new pronoun we’re forced to learn every time Will Smith’s son puts on a dress to Caitlyn Jenner reaching out to Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz to become his ‘trans ambassador’, Bunny feels that it’s time for the gloves to come off.

“We’ve become so politically correct that they just made Dick Van Dyke change his name to Penis Von Lesbian” said Lady B.

Featuring parodies of songs from Adele, Rent and Bruno Mars to hilarious affect and some insightful social commentary (well, she thinks it’s insightful anyway). Setting the current overemphasis on political correctness in her cross hairs, Bunny breaks down some of the latest buzzwords that we’re all supposed to remember for every for every occasion as we evolve. Are we actually evolving away from common sense? Take the new name for our community – LGBTQIA. Does anyone even know what that means?

It seems Bunny is ready to find out!

The show runs at the Soho Theatre 14 Feb – 25 Feb at 9:30pm.

Please note this is a 16+ event.
