One of the most important public polls of a generation has taken place, and it has come up with some very interesting results.
YouGov asked more than 31,000 British people their thoughts on one of music’s most successful pop groups of the past 25 years: the Spice Girls.
Yep, you read that right, we now have all the data we could have ever dreamed of about the 90s phenomenon.
First up, the biggest question of all: which Spice Girl is the most popular among the British public.
With a massive 37% of the vote, Baby Spice – aka Emma Bunton – has been named the nation’s most popular Spice Girl.
Sporty Spice (Melanie C) came in second place with 23%, while Ginger Spice (Geri Horner) is third with 19% of the vote.
Victoria ‘Posh Spice’ Beckham polled in fourth place with 12% of the vote, while Scary Spice (Mel B) came fifth with 9%.
However, while she may be in last place, Mel B’s fans were all about Girl Power.
Of Scary Spice’s fans, 31% said they believe in gender equality and would describe themselves as a feminist.
That compared to 20% of Sporty and Ginger’s fans, 19% of Posh’s, and 15% of Baby’s.
Unsurprisingly, Posh Spice has the most fashionable fanbase, with 50% of her followers keeping up to date with current trends.
Also, Posh Spice’s fanbase is the youngest, tallying up the most followers in the 18-24 age bracket.
Elsewhere, the YouGov poll found that Scary Spice’s fans are the biggest music lovers, while Ginger Spice has the largest male following.

This new poll comes after months of rumours of a new Spice Girls world tour, but Victoria Beckham has played down speculation around that.
Instead, the group said that they had met “to explore some incredible new opportunities together.”
Meanwhile, the upcoming Spice Girls exhibition is heading to the Business Design Centre in Angel, Islington, London later this year, and it’s set to be the biggest exhibition ever.
It will showcase thousands of memorabilia, iconic stage costumes, and some never before seen pieces.
The exhibition will showcase how the Spice Girls went from band to brand, the most recognisable face of Cool Britannia, and the biggest British pop phenomenon since Beatlemania.
A Union Jack decorated bus will also take fans on a tour of iconic Spice Girls locations around London, and will treat them to a Spice Girls dance class – for children and adults, live music performances, and many other unconfirmed events.
