It's time for the twinks to don their short shorts, the bears their leather and the hunks their tight tees. No, it's not Berlin's Fetish Festival (though we do love that, too)... it's Pride season!

In 2013, Pride isn't just the pastime of a few western metropolises, but goes on in every continent of the world. From Shanghai Pride in communist China, where homosexual acts were only removed from the list of recognised mental illnesses in 2001, to Sao Paulo Pride, in Brazil, where as many as four million people line the streets. Even Uganda, dubbed the world's worst place to be gay, had its inaugural pride parade last summer. As some argue that Pride has lost its meaning, we set out to meet the people putting on Prides across the planet - in some very different circumstances.
