Considering this is Finn Jones’ first photo shoot, let alone cover shoot, he’s remarkably relaxed.
But put simply, he’s effortlessly cool. Laid back, lovely and always humble.

There are large bottles of Peroni on the go and the iPod is blaring tunes the 24-year-old actor clearly approves of. He sings along to Stacey Latisaw’s Jump To The Beat one minute, Prince the next. And Wham – he’s definitely a fan of Wham. You can tell he’s holding back from busting a move too. He even has a flick through the vinyl in the studio, playing a few records throughout the day. Music’s a passion for Finn, but we’ll get to that.
At the moment he’s walking round in his underwear and that’s somewhat distracting.
Currently better known as Loras Tyrell, the Knight of Flowers, in Sky’s smash global hit Game of Thrones, he’s bringing medieval gay to screens across the world.
The former Hollyoaks star (he played drug dealer Jamie) is also a part of the Doctor Who mythos, having appeared as Jo Jones’ (nee Grant) grandson opposite Matt Smith in The Sarah Jane Adventures.
But as the tunes play throughout the day and into evening – we’re still left drinking beer and chatting as everyone departs – talk turns to music. He’s a DJ and part of music collective Human Effort, alongside pals Glen Leeson and Anthony Lewin. “I love music to bits.”
I’ve done him a disservice because listening to one of his mixes ahead of our interview, I assume he’s going to be into dubstep or something. “No. Fuck dubstep, I hate dubstep. Hate it.
“It’s all about rare disco cuts mixed with nice, new, intelligent, I want to say house music, but something that has a good feeling to it, a good energy, something that gets people moving and thinking as well.”
He’s just back from a screen test in LA, having literally got off the plane and put himself immediately into our eager hands.
“I’m fucking SO jet lagged.
“It’s part of the experience. For me, in my life, acting is all about meeting good people and having a good experience,” he says clapping his hands to emphasise his point, “I feel if I can do that, I feel that I’m succeeding, you know, I’m progressing. So even if I don’t get a certain role or a certain job, obviously it’s a bit of a bummer, but as long as I’m still doing it and having good experiences whilst pursuing this career, that’s what it’s about. It’s not about the end goal, it’s about the journey, the route. And as long as I’m having an interesting route on the way to wherever I want to go, for me that’s all that matters.”
He shrugs somewhat when asked how that route began. There doesn’t appear to have been an epiphany, a performance or person that provided the catalyst for this particular path.
“I’ve always acted, it’s just been something that has been ingrained in me, I guess. Not by anyone or anything, or even myself, it’s just always been there.”
He left sixth form when he was 18 and went to drama school, following a discussion with a careers advisor at school who suggested he’d be better having a back-up plan of studying economics. “Or some bullshit,” Finn waves away.
