July 08 - The Marco / Disco Issue
Gadz! Where to start? Chi Chi LaRue talking about ghosts, Donna Summer telling us about singing to owls, Indian transgendered priests protected by their Goddess, soul diva Mica Paris curled up with gay rapper QBoy discussing men and music, Rupert Smith eyeing up Ancient Greek twinks and daddies, Kylie's dancer, Marco Da Silva leaping deliciously in William Baker trunks or Shock Jock Nick Ferrari celebrating his friendship with The Telegraph’s asst. editor, the cracklingly bitchy Andrew Pierce.
However, if all this page-turning nonsense is getting too much for you, then we have the perfect solution: switch on your computer and follow the links to www.gaytimes.co.uk/Magazine/Subscribe.html. Yes! We’re launching our brand-new, all-singing, all-dancing, whistles, bells, features, comment and current affairs-saturated digital edition of this bold organ. Subscribe to it on-line, and not only will you make a significant saving on the print edition, but you will also be doing your bit for the environment by saving on paper. AND you’ll have it delivered to your desktop the day we hit the stands.
You wouldn’t think it to when you see how we’re sometimes portrayed, but Society has forced gays to be masters of disguise and discretion. Outside of a few ghettoes, it is difficult for us to express affection in public. After a few recent examples where gay men have been publicly humiliated (weirdly, mostly on public transport), we ask, has anything changed?
We have a game we play in the office that consists of trying to surprise ourselves with shifts in tone between one page and the next. So, fasten your seatbelts and get ready to turn the page; I hope you enjoy the issue – it’s made with the sweat of our brains – and you’re all worth every drop.
Stay tuned for the next exciting issue.
