Editor's Letter

July 09 - Beach Bums

I’ve worked for GT for six years and It’s time to move on. I’ve had a fabulous time, made some wonderful friends and had some amazing colleagues. Mostly though I have been moved – sometimes to laughter, sometimes to tears, by your letters. You only have to read the letter of the month in this issue to see why. Whenever I received a letter like this – or one from someone in their 70s telling me they’ve never told anyone they were gay until now, or from a prisoner telling us how the magazine was helping them get through it (thank you David), I realised how lucky I was. I have always read them to the team with the words: “You could work at I:D or Dazed and Confused (the team here could easily shine in those environments) but I guarantee that the editors there don’t receive letters like this. At the risk of sounding like an award speech, I want to thank the whole team here for giving me the best years I’ve ever had. I also want to thank Tris Reid-Smith for organising the cover and GT Eye this month while my attentions have been elsewhere.

After the GT25 issue, I'd done everything I wanted to do and don’t want to repeat myself. I have some fantastically exciting projects lined up – some writing, some not - none of which I can talk about just yet.

I am always on the look out for more though – so please email me if you have something that you want to involve me in.

Thank you all again and if you see me out and about, make mine a pint.
