Over a thousand LGBT couples descended upon the Hilton London Metropole last weekend, seeking advice from experts at the Building Families Show 2013.
Many of the world’s top fertility companies were exhibiting at the show; offering couples a unique insight into the various treatments available.
In recent years, alternative families have started to become more of the norm, with many gay and lesbian couples having children of their own.
Aside from adoption, the most popular method has become surrogacy, which involves gamete donation.
The British Surrogacy Centre were the headline sponsor of the day, their staff were on hand to explain the whole surrogacy process in detail.
One of their celebrity clients, Bobby Norris from The Only Way Is Essex was on hand to tell his personal story too.
Bobby attracted controversy on the last series of TOWIE for his ‘gayby’ storyline, but at the show came across as much more serious about his hopes to raise his own family.
Engaging seminars at the show helped to clarify the different options available to couples, with many of the exhibitors displaying fascinating presentations on subjects ranging from egg donation to adoption and IVF to family law. No stone was left unturned.
Many of the exhibitors came over to the show from the United States, including the world famous Dr Guy Ringler – California Fertility Partners, Dr Susan Treiser – IVF New Jersey Fertility Center and well-known psychotherapist, Andrea Bryman.
Couples were also able to benefit from the advice and expertise of top lawyers and solicitors, including Dawson Cornwall, who have lead the way in alternative family law for a number of years now.
This was the first ever year of The Building Families Show, and hopes are that it can only grow from here.
Discussions are already in the pipeline to launch The Building Families Show USA in Los Angeles and New York, while planning for next year’s London show is already well underway.
