Spring (finally) hits Manchester

We visit Harvey Nichols' Spring/Summer 2013 Catwalk Show

Perched upon our personalised perspex seats, on the front-row no less, GT felt every inch the fashionista at Manchester’s most hotly anticipated fashion event, the seasonal Harvey Nichols catwalk show.

Throwing Abby Crouch an air-kiss and waving in a queen-like manner over to Natasha “Atomic Kitten” Hamilton, we awaited the arrival of the last few WAGS, Lisa Carrick among them, before the hoards were dragged in to fill the show-space on the first floor of the Exchange Square department store.

The lights dimmed, an intake of breath was heard and the music was cranked up ready for Charly to step out in a show-stopping, or in this case, starting 3.1 Phillip Lim dress. Segmented into trends, the show stampeded through the best of this season’s looks, from monochrome and metallic for the ladies to biker jackets and 50s mobster suiting courtesy of Pal Zileri and Calvin Klein.

As the flash bulbs popped and our bubbly sloshed all over our new DKNY we patiently waited our favourite highlight of the show, the menswear swimsuit showcase.

Yummy boys in tiny Orlebar Brown shorts sashayed down the catwalk to the beat of the music and our ever-rising pulse rate interspersed with beautiful ladies in next to nothing, including Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model winner Jade Thompson.

However, in just a handful of tipsy minutes the show was over and the crowds dispersed to shop the show with their meaty 15% discount. GT, however, went on the prowl for lonely male models and more free booze.
