Happy New You!

Ok. So last year might have not been the year you found love, but there's not reason why this year can't be.

We've heard it all before - "perhaps if you stop looking so hard, you'll find him". ABSOLUTE RUBBISH.

You have to be in it to win it. Really, you do. So make it your new year's resolution to “do everything it takes to find love this year”. And you know what, there are plenty of people out there looking for love too. It's fantastic news for online daters everywhere, at it means plenty of new blood on dating sites, including, of course, GTDate.

Fact: this is actually one of the best times of year to take a look at your online dating profile and maybe even overall strategy, to bag one of all the new guys who’ll be turning up.

So, when was the last time you updated your profile?

Some of us love talking about ourselves, but none of us really like writing ourselves, so dating profiles usually end up worked on at the beginning and then forgotten for long periods of time. If you’ve been dating online for a while, you’ve probably made some changes already as you’ve learned what works and what doesn’t, but this is a good time to take a look and see if your profile represents 2012's you – the one you want to show off to the new guys on the proverbial dating block.

Perhaps you should update your pics?

It's amazing how many people have pictures from from that beach holiday 5 years ago. You need to go into this and get dating confidently. Change your approach.

Are you keeping up with your potential matches?

It's busy busy busy this time of year, but as we go into January there’s probably more time to look around at the profiles GTDate is sending you and spending a bit more time contacting guys on the site. This time of year is always the busiest, so if you hang around, you’re bound to come across some guys you’ve never seen before.

Are you keen to make a plan?

Keeping dating fun is more important than sticking to a predetermined goal till you’re too bored to carry on, but if you must set yourself some objectives, make them realistic and based on your past experiences. Don’t vow to go on 5 dates a week if you know it takes you a long time to find someone you’re interested in, but maybe agree to go on at least one date every couple of weeks with someone you’re 50-50 about meeting.

Even if you’ve been dating online for a while and have been finding that things have gone a bit stale, making a few simple changes to your profile and outlook can make things look fresh again. Considering the amount of new people joining this time of year, you could be feeling like a new person dating on a completely new site!
