Love is What You Want

A nice bit of culture to kick-start your Thursday morning.

Fashion powerhouse Louis Vuitton has opened a new exhibition this month at their New Bond Street Maison, by none other than celebrated British artist Ms. Tracey Emin. This coincides quite nicely with another of Tracey’s exhibitions Love is What You Want at the Hayward Gallery, which just so happens to have officially opened to the public yesterday.

We popped along to see what all these Louis Vuitton PR types have been gushing about and we have to admit that - while our knowledge of art pretty much begins and ends with flipping through the occasional Dylan Rosser coffee table book - we thought it was all really rather good.*

The LV exhibition (which we haven’t seen yet but are assured is equally impressive) features a fab new piece crafted entirely from florescent neon lights and bears the same title as the Hayward show Love is What You Want, as well as several limited edition art works, including one made exclusively for them.

Rather generously, the proceeds from the sale of these extraordinary pieces will be used to fund arts projects at the Forest High School, Uganda – a cause close to Tracey's heart.

She also supports numerous AIDS and HIV charities and non-profit organizations, so it’s really only right that us gays should support her too. (And Louis Vuitton of course, after all, they do make very nice luggage.)

* If we could afford it, we’d totally have “Fuck off and die you SLAG” to hang on the wall of the office.
