Must see: Forbidden Broadway
Christina Bianco newest member of cast
More from GT Stage
The award-winning show Forbidden Broadway has been an unstoppable force in New York theatre since the 1980s. This updated version of the show, directed by Phillip George, showcases some of the most well known and successful performances from both Broadway and the West End, including Les Misérables, The Lion King, Matilda, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The Book of Mormon.
The cast includes American singer and actress Sophie-Louise Dann, Anna-Jane Casey, Damian Humbley and Ben Lewis. Following its run at the Menier Chocolate Factory, Forbidden Broadway has sold out at the Menier Chocolate Factory and will be showing at the Vaudeville Theatre from 9 September to 22 November 2014, with Christina Bianco starring.
The show, in parodying and satirising famous musicals, is guaranteed to produce laughs. The stage, with its decadent colour and overdone tinsel, oozes campness. Viewers will be treated to the talented quarter of Dann, Casey, Humbley and Lewis rattling through routines and going through costume changes at the speed of light. Highlights include a hilarious reinvention of Defying Gravity from the musical Wicked – here recreated as Defying Subtlety – and a Willy Wonka creepier than ever before.
Guaranteed to keep you laughing for the best part of two hours, this is a must-see for Broadway and musical theatre fans. Tickets for the show can be bought here.
