Dolly Parton confirmed for Glastonbury
...oh, and Blondie too.
Who knew Glastonbury announcements were like buses? You wait ages and ages, and then two come at once. This morning saw two of our favourite gay icons ever – Dolly Parton and Blondie – announced for this year's festival.
Dolly will be making her highly-anticipated trip to Worthy Farm this June, playing the Pyramid Stage's renowned "legends" slot, following in the footsteps of Shirley Bassey and Tom Jones.
The 9 to 5 singer took to Twitter this morning to break the news to her millions of excited fans – us included.
Meanwhile, Blondie's frontwoman and one of the fiercest voices in rock and roll, Debbie Harry, announced her own band's Glastonbury plans in the Metro, saying: "We just heard today – we're going to be doing Glastonbury".
If last night's performance at the NME Awards was anything to go by, they're going to be incredible. We were literally dancing on the tables.
Anyway, if this isn't an excuse to stick a bit of Dolly on, we don't know what is...
