Jonny Woo is to host an Alternative Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony on 7 February. The event, which boasts some of the biggest names of the East London party scene, will be held at Lime Wharf. Just some of the guest DJs spinning include Jodie Harsh, Kris Di Angelis, Hannah Holland, The Lovely Jonjo and Cormac.
The night has was dreamt up in support of gay and human right activists The Peter Tatchell Foundation, whose main goal is to protect the human rights of all individuals. Their work is not only limited to the UK but internationally too. Peter Tatchell has been campaigning since 1967 on LGBT equality and all profits from the night will go directly to the foundation.
This event is to oppose the anti-gay law currently making life extremely difficult for LGBT Russians, and to show solidarity not only to that community, but all of the Olympians competing at Sochi 2014. This is a momentous cause and the Peter Tatchell Foundation do endless work to support it.
Expect plenty of recogniseable fashionistas, scene faces and disco divas, such as Princess Julia and Daniel Lismore who will act as hosts on the night. There will be live PA from 10pm and a promise of continuing the night until the early morning at every gayers favourite Shoreditch basement club, East Bloc. How apt.
An incredible night for an even better cause. For more information, see the Facebook event page or to buy tickets, which are just £11 advance, click here.
