Remove All Evidence That Christmas Ever Happened

Before you send three spirits to visit me, and to teach me the values of Christmas, hear me out. Christmas is great; family, friends, presents and food generally make for a rather lovely festive period. However, there is a tendency to let Christmas linger. You might have taken your tree down, but is every little bit of tinsel, stocking filler, bit of packaging gone? Has all the re-arranged furniture been returned to its original position? Start the new year with a clean home and a clean slate.

Sort Through Old Possessions

The new year is a great time to go through drawers and boxes of possessions, accumulated over the years. We, as humans, seem to have an unbelievable talent for collecting things that we don't need. Use the new year to start afresh and get rid of anything which you no longer absolutely need. Tip: Try and do it as quickly as possible; you can waste so much time taking a trip down memory lane!

Do That Task

Most of us probably have a few home improvement/alterations which we would like to make, but have just never got round to it. Whether you're completely repainting a room or simply organising some cables, make sure you set aside a time and stick to that time. It's incredibly rewarding to get all of the little jobs done, especially once Summer rolls around and they're all finished!

Make a Statement with your Interior

2014 is going to be a big year for loud colours and energetic patterns. Try stepping outside of your comfort zone and adding one or two real statement pieces. A patterned upholstered chair is a great way to add energy to a simple and clean contemporary interior. Using bold colour and pattern will allow you to dictate where the focal point of your room is. Go on, give it a try!

Spring Clean On The Gloomy Days

This is an important one. On a gloomy day, your initial instinct is probably to grab a bag of fancy crisps, some kind of furry pet, and hibernate. Why not use the gloomy days of winter to give your home a 'spring' clean, and make the most of the few days when the sun shines?
