Michael’s Mad-on-na

Madonna’s life gets the cabaret treatment

We admit we were jealous of the lucky folk who got to see Michael Griffith’s Madonna cabaret at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August. After we featured him in GT this summer, the show quickly became a sell-out as Madge lovers clambered to get tickets for his one-man-and-a-piano walk through her back catalogue. And even though we’ve been dripping in Divas courtesy of Cher and Gaga’s new releases, we’re missing the true Queen of Pop.

So, by popular demand, the Aussie spunk is bringing his show to London for four nights in December.
In Vogue – Songs By Madonna sees Michael channeling his inner Ms Ciccone via a piano and selection of her 60 chart hits to take us fans on a witty, piss-takey and touching journey through her life.

“You’ll hear your favourite Madonna songs as you've never heard them before,” Michael tells GT. “I come from a classical music background and have reinterpreted all her songs at the piano to let the lyrics speak for themselves - it's surprising just how much autobiography is in them. It's also unashamedly a comedy so you can expect a lot of laughs.”
Written and directed by Dean Bryant (Prodigal, Liza on an E, Britney Spears: The Cabaret), the show features 35 song references and 12 Madonna songs.

In Vogue – Songs By Madonna runs from Thursday 19th December to Sunday 22nd December at St James Theatre London. For booking information, visit the St James Theatre website
