Our kind of Essex boy

Ed Drewett goes solo and we're loving it.

Having collaborated with Professor Green, The Wanted and Olly Murs, the time has come for Essex cutie Ed Drewett to ride solo. Without the swag of Murs, the aggression of Green or the downright adulation received by The Wanted, Drewett steps out of the shadows with classy number Drunk Dial. Going alone seems to have done the trick, as this track combines an upbeat rhythm with a vibe that could enlighten clubbers as winter turns into spring.

The 24 year old believes, with good reason, that his new single will better his debut release Champagne Lemomade, which charted at 84 in 2010. “Don’t mind if I do!” he repeats, regularly, almost as if he is sorry for releasing a single of such vibrant nature. Well we don’t mind if you do, either. And we don’t mind hitting repeat.

A gifted musician and songwriter to boot, Drunk Dial promises to help catapult Drewett up to the company he has kept whilst producing for others. And, with his new trim haircut in the video along with his boy nextdoor Essex demeanour, Ed Drewett can Drunk Dial us any day of the week.

Video below. Enjoy!
