Tis the season to be woolly
It's time for the Christmas jumper to come out of the closet
It was once the guise of only grandparents and the fashionably challenged. But as the winter freeze sets in, the Christmas jumper is officially hot stuff once again.
Whilst we usually prefer our men without any clothes on at all, of the possible outfits festive knitwear is definitely amongst the most attractive – with a survey discovering 35% of Brits find the woollen pullovers sexy. Reindeers, snowmen and Santas topped the poll as the biggest turn ons.
But it’s a long way from Bridget Jones’s horror on first meeting reindeer emblazoned Marc Darcey. In the last 24 months the jumpers have seen a major comeback, especially in Wales and London where more than half of residents are now openly Christmas jumper owners.
It’s even got its own day of recognition, with this Friday 14 December being declared national Christmas Jumper Day. In aid of Save the Children, the campaign aims to ‘make the world better with a sweater’ asking for donations of £1 to wear a jumper to work. Which will no doubt go down well in the midlands, which was named as the number one region for wearing Santa knitwear to work.
Christmas jumpers from TOWIE’s Mark Wright (pictured), Philip Schofield and Jon Snow have all come out of the closet in aid of Friday's fundraiser. So why just pull under the mistletoe, when you could be wearing it too? For more information visit savethechildren/jumpers
