The unveiling of the world's biggest Red Ribbon

for World AIDS Day this Saturday


AVERT are unveiling the worlds biggest red ribbon on the pitch at Anfield, before the Liverpool v Southampton game this weekend.

AVERT are an international HIV and AIDS charity, based in the UK, working to avert HIV and AIDS worldwide, through education, treatment and care. Avert are backed by Standard Chartered Bank which is a sponsor of Liverpool F.C.

The ribbon it self is recognised by Guinness World Records as the World’s Largest AIDS Awareness Ribbon, at an amazing 49m! Globally recognised HIV/AIDS expert Dr Surya Rao created it.

The unveiling will also mark the launch of AVERT's 'Get Plugged in Campaign' aimed at increasing education and awareness specifically amongst young people.

World AIDS Day has been running every December since 1988, it was the first ever global health day and this year will be held on Saturday 1st December. The day is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, show their support for people living with HIV and to commemorate people who have died from the disease.
