It's raining, men

The latest installment of dating advice from GT Date.

The autumn showers are here, not much going on in on the scene - what better time to kick-start some online dating!

Whilst you might be mourning the end of summer, the good news is that winter is actually the busiest, happiest time in online dating, when hoards of dissatisfied singles hit the dating sites in search of love (or a boyfriend for Christmas).

Ride that wave and you could be well on your way to finding what you’re after – there’ll be lots of new faces appearing over the next few months. Here are three simple things you can do to make sure you’re ready for the onslaught.

Update your profile pictures

We bet that over the summer we tend to be fitter, happier and healthier and that means you have a whole load of new pictures to show off your best side to your potential partners. Yes, pictures are certainly not everything, especially not on GTDate, but they do help.

If nothing else, having a picture you like on your profile makes you feel more confident, which means you’ll be more likely to actively seek out guys to contact.

Refresh your profile

While you’re still flying high on the joys of summer, it’s time to take a look at the stuff you’ve written and see if it’s as upbeat as you’d like it to be. If there’s one thing people seek out in the dreary winter months it’s someone who can bring them a sense of optimism and fun!

Do your best!

Now is the time to get back into the dating habit. Start by allowing yourself time to search sites, contact men and go on dates, at least once a week if you’re busy, more if you can afford the time and want to be more active. Make it casual, make it fun, make it so it’s an enjoyable experience for you even if nothing happens.

By the time the depth of winter sets in, you want to be primed for making the most of the bounty.
