Simon Callow returns to the West End
in Peter Ackroyd’s The Mystery of Charles Dickens
Famous for the voice of Ebeneezer Scrooge in the 2001 animated film Christmas Carol: The Movie, British ("openly gay!") actor Simon Callow, is taking to the West End stage once again, in the award winning novelist Peter Ackroyd’s The Mystery of Charles Dickens.
Callow shows us what he’s got as he brings to life the character of Dickens at the Playhouse Theatre from 13 September to 3 November 2012. The show, directed by Richard Twyman, shows Dickens life unfold, travelling from England throughout the Victoria era, all the way to Europe and America, stumbling across pompous beadles, drunken midwives and the most fashionable society parties. Draw your own parallels between that an a night out with GT...
Fresh from his leading role in ‘Being Shakespeare’ and his on screen appearance during the Doctor Who series in 2005 and 2011, this role was made for Callow.
He’s even written his own tribute to Dickens, Charles Dickens and The Great Theatre of the World which will be published in September. Tickets for the show are on sale now
