The Teenage Dream era is coming to a close...

...but only after after eight singles, multiple awards, a sell-out tour and of course Part of Me 3D.
With Katy Perry, you always expect something of a spectacle when it comes to a new video, and despite the fact that this staggeringly becomes the eighth single to be taken from her Teenage Dream years, we can’t help but love it all the same.
A preview was released last week in which the video was billed as the Final Chapter and caused quite a stir of excitement among fans. Perry originally intended to release the official video for Wide Awake later in the week, but decided she just “couldn’t wait.”
The video sees Perry call a wrap on proceedings on the set of her California Gurls video, before meeting her younger self, who helps her to escape the maze, a symbol of the tough two years of her life which has saw her very public marriage and divorce from Russell Brand. Wide Awake has all the goods to make it an 11th top 20 single for Ms Perry, and the eighth from Teenage Dream and Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection.
As she sings "I wish I knew then what I know now" you get a sense that she has turned a corner in her life, the video poignantly encapsulates her reflection upon coming through those tougher times in her life.
It is sad to see the end of what has been a record breaking era for Katy Perry, although we don’t think she’ll leave us waiting too long, and the future promises more exciting stuff from Katy with the upcoming release of her new movie Part of Me 3D, which will give us something to keep the Teenage Dream years going until her next project.
