Il Divo meets Steps? Kind of...


So, a few issues back we introduced you to the gorgeous Noah Stewart, classically trained tenor and label mate of Joe McElderry.

This week, Noah became the first black musician to go to number one in the British classical music charts EVER. Suffice to say, the pop-infused opera movement – oh, to hell with it, let’s just call it p’opera – is having its moment. Cue Amore.

Amore are Peter Brathwaite (baritone), Victoria Gray (mezzo soprano), Monica McGhee (soprano), and David Webb (tenor), four ex-students of the Royal College of Music who’ve teamed up to form an IMPOSSIBLY PRETTY and IMPOSSIBLY TALENTED super group. The guys are evidently heartbreakingly handsome and dapper, and we’ll always have a thing for a girl in a Jessica Rabbit dress, so full marks on the aesthetics. But the music’s lovely too. Give this a spin. We think you're gonna like it...

All in their early to mid twenties, they have a mammoth amount of experience having between them sung for royalty, presidents, at a variety of festivals and recitals, in lead opera roles and even at the opening of the Millennium Dome...maybe, just maybe, they'll return under its new guise (the 02 Arena, duh) in the foreseeable future...
