Pride Bristol

We went, we drank, we felt very proud indeed.

Last weekend saw the rather lovely town of Bristol hosting the biggest Pride event in the South West. Kelis was headlining, which was actually a pretty big deal considering the best London had to offer last month were three of the four original members of Bucks Fizz.

However, not being particularly in the know when it comes to the current chart toppers, off we staggered to the cabaret stage where we felt much more at home. Mainly thanks to London’s very own Tanya Hyde who, in our opinion, gave this Kelis girl a pretty decent run for her money.

Thankfully, the rain held off just long enough to encourage most of the gays – in true Pride tradition – to strip down to their Calvins. Plus we were thrilled to discover that apparently outside London buying a round of drinks won’t send you plummeting into your overdraft. Who knew?

Definitely an event to keep an eye out for next year.

Shameless plugs: We travelled in style courtesy of First Great Western and stayed for one of the best night’s sleep we’ve ever had at the Bristol Marriot Royal.
